Before reading an article on New Jersey Poets and Poetry, I wasn’t aware that April is National Poetry Month. Growing more interested, I read on, and from there I was redirected to Anthony Buccino’s blog featured on NJ.com. Buccino provided a partial listing of readings throughout N.J. by professional and amateur poets in celebration of the month, in case any of you are interested. I was disappointed to read, however, that I missed Billy Collins, who happened to do a reading last night at Georgian Court University in Lakewood, N.J.

Does anyone else find it odd that the first reading was March 31 and not April 1?

More importantly, these couple of posts got me thinking – how many people are actually aware that there is a National Poetry Month and that it’s April? I did a little digging around and found a very useful and comphrensive FAQ at poets.org that helped answer some of my questions. Check it out.
